Welcome

A Mindful Transformation, Inc. is a federally recognized nonprofit founded and led by a woman veteran of the U.S. military. We are more than a virtual counseling practice; we are a sanctuary for healing where lived experience, clinical expertise, and intentional care come together in service of your growth.

Our person‑centered, evidence‑informed services support individuals and families navigating substance use, sobriety, life transitions, grief, and parenting challenges, regardless of military affiliation. Embracing a person‑centered approach inspired by motivational interviewing, we honor everyone’s unique journey, recognize their strengths, and support meaningful change on their own terms and timeline.

With a trauma‑informed lens, we integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma‑Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF‑CBT), and SMART Recovery tools to strengthen emotional regulation, foster resilience, and support sustainable recovery.

Transformation is rarely linear. It often asks us to grieve identities we once held, roles we cherished, or ways of being that no longer serve us. As a Certified Grief‑Informed Professional, our founder honors this process with compassion, clarity, and ritualized intention.

Our Parenting with Presence program offers trauma‑informed, empowerment‑based education for caregivers committed to strengthening connection, cultivating emotional steadiness, and supporting healthy family systems.

Every service we offer is delivered with integrity, steadiness, and clear intention. Our work is grounded in the belief that healing is possible, expansion is sacred, and each person carries the capacity to grow into the fullness of who they already are.

Here, your journey begins not with a label, but with a remembering.
Step into a space where clinical excellence meets lived experience, and renewal is honored at every stage.

Healing with dignity. Transforming with grace.

About Dr. Gillian Harris-Dale, PhD, MCAP, ICADA

Veteran. Visionary. Vessel of Transformation

Rooted in Service

I served with honor as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. Nearly a decade of military service shaped the values that continue to guide my life: discipline, integrity, respect, honor, and the power of collective strength. These principles remain woven into both my personal and professional path.

Family Readiness and Community Care

Following my honorable discharge, I continued serving military families as a Family Readiness Group Leader, creating spaces where service members and their loved ones felt supported, informed, and empowered. My approach was relational, ritual‑centered, and grounded in genuine care.

My commitment to community extended into civilian spaces marked by profound vulnerability. I volunteered with oncology and hospice organizations, offering presence and dignity to individuals navigating the final chapters of life. I also served in a domestic violence survivor shelter, supporting individuals reclaiming safety, voice, and agency. These experiences deepened my understanding of trauma, resilience, and the sacredness of human connection across all walks of life.

Advocacy and the Work of Restoring Voices

I have led initiatives supporting homeless Veterans and their families, offering not only shelter but belonging. I have provided counseling to individuals navigating PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma, and Traumatic Brain Injury, grounding my work in deep listening, unwavering presence, and trauma‑responsive care.

My leadership has contributed to successful federal audits, sustained funding, and, most importantly, the restoration of dignity and visibility for those long overlooked.

In recent years, my work in substance use, addiction, and recovery has been shaped by compassion, evidence‑based practice, and reverence for the resilience families embody. I conduct thorough evaluations and offer counseling that honors each person’s unique journey, fostering healing, accountability, and self‑directed growth. I do not see families as broken — I see them as evolving.

Teaching, Speaking, and Community Leadership

Throughout my career, I have shared insights from podiums and intimate circles alike. I have facilitated workshops on career advancement, resilience, and life after trauma, empowering Veterans, inspiring community leaders, and contributing to state symposiums. When addressing Military Sexual Trauma, I speak not of wounds, but of the transformative strength that rises from their aftermath.

Healing as Ceremony. Structure as Grace

Today, I am the founder of A Mindful Transformation, Inc., a nonprofit rooted in trauma‑informed, evidence‑based counseling, holistic recovery, and empowerment‑centered education. I believe healing is both a science and a ceremony. Transformation is not a destination — it is a rhythm.

A Mindful Transformation is the culmination of my journey: a sanctuary where every client is honored as a sovereign being in the process of becoming.

Transformative / Personal Development Coaching

Our Transformative / Personal Development Coaching service supports individuals who are ready to expand their capacity for self‑mastery, emotional steadiness, and purposeful living. Grounded in evidence‑based strategies and DBT‑aligned skills, this service offers structured guidance that strengthens emotional regulation, deepens interpersonal effectiveness, and builds resilience in the face of life’s challenges. A trauma‑responsive lens ensures that each person’s lived experience is honored with care and precision. Clients are supported in identifying what matters, clarifying their intentions, and taking aligned, achievable steps toward meaningful change. Through a collaborative and dignity‑centered process, individuals learn to harness their innate potential, cultivate sustainable habits, and experience lasting psychological and relational well‑being. This work supports their becoming — and nurtures the steady expansion of confidence, clarity, and inner authority.

Substance Use Counselig

We offer individualized, trauma‑informed counseling for adults navigating substance use and co‑occurring challenges. Sessions integrate Motivational Interviewing, DBT‑aligned skills, and DSM‑5‑TR diagnostic clarity to support emotional regulation, self‑empowerment, and sustained healing. Treatment plans are guided by ASAM criteria and tailored to each client’s goals, strengths, and readiness for change. Clients complete SAMHSA‑aligned assessments at intake and discharge, with ongoing evaluation throughout the counseling process to monitor progress, adjust goals, and ensure responsive care. This service honors each person’s journey with dignity, structure, and evidence‑based support

Biopsychosocial Assessment for Substance Use

This structured intake process gathers biological, psychological, and social data to inform individualized treatment planning. The assessment integrates ASAM criteria, the DSM‑5‑TR diagnostic framework, and Motivational Interviewing strategies to honor client autonomy, readiness for change, and cultural context. Clients complete SAMHSA‑aligned screening tools to support diagnostic clarity, service eligibility, and recovery planning. This assessment may be offered as a stand‑alone service or incorporated into ongoing Substance Use Counseling, serving as the clinical foundation for all recovery support services at A Mindful Transformation, Inc. Through this process, clients begin articulating what matters, identifying their strengths, and naming the shifts they are ready to make. The assessment becomes the first step in their becoming — a grounded starting point that supports the steady expansion of insight, stability, and self‑directed change. This service meets caregivers where they are — honoring their resilience, supporting their becoming, and nurturing the steady expansion of confidence, connection, and presence within the parent‑child relationship.

Social Empowerment - Codependency

Social Empowerment is a structured educational program designed to support individuals in understanding relational patterns, strengthening personal boundaries, and expanding their capacity for healthy connection. The curriculum integrates trauma‑responsive principles, nervous system awareness, and empowerment‑based practices to help participants develop clarity, confidence, and relational steadiness. A motivational interviewing–aligned approach supports participants in exploring their values, identifying what matters, and making self‑directed choices that honor their autonomy. This program is educational and skills‑based, not counseling or treatment. Each session builds intentionally on the previous week, creating a coherent arc of self‑awareness, boundary development, and empowered relational living. Throughout the process, participants are supported in their becoming — nurturing the steady expansion of agency, emotional steadiness, and authentic connection within their social and interpersonal worlds.

Comprehensive Substance Use Evaluation

This in‑depth clinical evaluation provides a holistic understanding of an individual’s relationship with substances, exploring patterns of use, co‑occurring symptoms, and the environmental and emotional factors that shape the recovery journey. The assessment integrates ASAM criteria, DSM 5 TR diagnostic considerations, and trauma‑informed interviewing to ensure accuracy, dignity, and cultural responsiveness. Clients engage in structured clinical interviewing and complete validated screening tools to support diagnostic clarity, determine level of care needs, and identify strengths that can anchor long‑term change. Military, veteran, and caregiver experiences are incorporated when relevant to honor the full context of each person’s story. This assessment may be completed independently or as the first step in accessing Substance Use Counseling or other recovery‑oriented services at A Mindful Transformation, Inc. It serves as a comprehensive roadmap, offering individualized recommendations, safety considerations, and evidence‑based next steps to support healing and self‑determined transformation.

Recovery in Practice - Circle of Becoming

Recovery‑In‑Practice: Circle of Becoming is a complimentary, peer‑facilitated space that honors the ongoing work of becoming — the daily choices, the quiet discipline, and the steady return to oneself that shape a sustainable recovery journey. This circle offers a supportive and structured environment for individuals cultivating stability, emotional regulation, and long‑term recovery practices. Rooted in the SMART Recovery® 4‑Point Program™, participants engage with practical strategies to enhance motivation, manage urges, regulate thoughts and emotions, and cultivate a balanced, purpose‑driven life. Motivational Interviewing strategies are woven throughout the group’s approach, supporting autonomy, strengthening self‑efficacy, and helping participants connect with their own reasons for change. These evidence‑based tools are held within a trauma‑informed, dignity‑centered framework that respects each person’s readiness, strengths, and lived experience. The group convenes weekly online via Zoom® and warmly welcomes veterans, military families, and all those on similar paths. Participation is free, though registration is required.

Recovery‑In‑Practice: Circle of Becoming

Parenting with Presence is a trauma‑informed, skill‑building service that supports caregivers navigating recovery, reunification, or family court involvement. Grounded in educational psychology and strengthened by graduate‑level expertise in education, along with more than a decade of classroom teaching and direct advocacy within the family court system, the curriculum fosters emotional regulation, restorative discipline, and the reweaving of safe, connected caregiving. Each participant completes a pre‑ and post‑assessment to measure growth, identify strengths, and guide individualized support. Sessions include reflective exercises, peer support, and practical tools that strengthen parenting capacity and promote healing‑centered family relationships. This service meets caregivers where they are — honoring their resilience, supporting their becoming, and nurturing the steady expansion of confidence, connection, and presence within the parent‑child relationship.

Client Advocate: Care Planning Session
